Het doel van deze conferentie is om kleine initiatieven te verbinden aan langlopend onderzoek en nieuwe inzichten, ervaringen, inspiratie en netwerken op te doen. Alleen als we meer samenwerken, kunnen we met de idealen van Natuurinclusief Onderwijs (NiO) een schoolsysteem veranderen.
Een grondhouding vanuit een nieuw wereldbeeld
Natuurinclusief Onderwijs is geen extra vak om te verzorgen door leerkrachten en leerplanontwikkelaars, het is een grondhouding vanuit een nieuw wereldbeeld. Net als de bekende vergelijking dat er een dorp nodig is om een kind op te voeden; is er een hele school nodig om kinderen, tieners en jong volwassenen Natuurinclusief Onderwijs te bieden. Een hele school maak je niet vanuit vakinhoud en leerdoelen maar met de hele leergemeenschap als ecosysteem van aandacht en zorg.
Dus daarom deze oproep: neem de mensen om je heen mee die overwegen om ‘iets’ met onderwijs te gaan doen, vanuit passie, zingeving en misschien ook wel: zorgen over het huidig onderwijs. Ontmoet (toekomstige) collega decanen, remedial teachers, conciërges, onderzoekers en actieve leerlingen. Mentoren, architecten, de tuinploeg en het netwerk van actieve ouders. We hebben een hele gemeenschap nodig om de natuur in jouw ideale school tot bloei te brengen!
Programma
Een dag die start met een storm binnenshuis, vervolgd door verschillende korte en smakelijke verhalen die Natuurinclusief Onderwijs relevant maken. Onderwerpen variërend van de relatie tussen natuurbeleving en taal- of rekenlessen voor kinderen, aanpassing van academische studieprogramma’s in de sociale wetenschappen en consequenties voor biotechnologie zullen ter sprake komen. Later zal een gevarieerde carrousel van actieve sessies met een gemengde doelgroep ruimte geven om o.a. te verkennen hoe Natuurinclusief Onderwijs (NiO) in de gebouwen en buitenruimte op de campus van Wageningen kan worden verweven. Aan het einde van de dag zullen we samen met de nieuwe ontmoetingen de nieuw verkregen lessen, ervaringen en inspiraties oogsten en bespreken. Aangesterkt naar huis met een gezamenlijke agenda voor een nieuw jaar More Nature Deeper Education.

1. Campus – Ecosystems of learning What does a nature inclusive learning space look like? In this workshop we will explore the Wageningen campus. We will talk about looks, needs and realization of nature-inclusive learning spaces. We will visit existing spaces and dream about possibilities. With Yoram de Vos and the WUR eNaBlS Living Lab
LONG SESSION – OUTSIDE (Round 1&2)
2. Teacher – What does a teacher need to learn in order to teach Nature-inclusively? In the past year, Wageningen University and NatureCollege Foundation developed a teacher training in nature-inclusive education to equip teachers with inspiration, methods, skills and creative ideas to make their teaching and course content more nature-inclusive. In this workshop we will explore some of these methods, skills and ideas. Session guided by NatureCollege Foundation and Marca Gresnigt and Ellen Torfs – Wageningen Teaching and Learning Center.

3. New language – Imagination about our relationship with the multi-species world can inspire us to create new meanings of the way we are embedded in nature. But how do you find new stories, new words? Writer and PhD researcher Beitske Bouwman invites you to Write with Nature and find new ways to express and share meanings of the experiences in and with Nature.

4. Gapyear/Tussenjaar – NatuurCollege en de provincie Overijssel zien dat steeds meer jongeren moeite hebben hun leven vorm en inhoud te geven. De adolescentiefase is de periode waarin jongeren op zoek zijn naar hun identiteit en plek in de wereld. Een periode waarin diepe, betekenisvolle verbindingen gelegd worden. Tussen 2025 en 2027 nemen wij de tijd om een (Natuur) Tussenjaar in Overijssel te ontwikkelen waarbij wij ons laten inspireren door o.a. de Folkhögskola in Scandinavië. In deze werksessie willen wij ophalen hoe het ideale programma van dit nieuwe (Natuur) Tussenjaar eruit kan gaan zien. Sessie geleid door Paul Roncken en Luka Blankevoort, st. NatuurCollege.

5. Society/Maatschappij– Wereldburgerschap als kans voor natuurinclusief onderwijs. Wereldburgerschapsonderwijs verbindt burgerschapsonderwijs met onderwijs voor duurzame ontwikkeling, inclusie, mensenrechten-educatie en wereldperspectieven. In deze workshop maak je kennis met wereldburgerschaps-onderwijs, de actuele ontwikkeling van de conceptkerndoelen van burgerschap, de wettelijke burgerschapsopdracht voor alle scholen in Nederland en de kansen die dit biedt om wereldburgerschap en natuurinclusief onderwijs invulling te geven op jouw school. 6. Primary School/ Basisschool – NatuurWijs is een programma voor (basis) scholen. Het is Natuurbeleving en Natuureducatie waarbij het met name gaat om verbinden met de Natuur. Kinderen krijgen doordat ze de hele schooldag buiten zijn de gelegenheid om de Natuur op allerlei manieren te leren kennen en er in op te gaan. Ze doen ervaringen op in de Natuur, ze leren over de Natuur en werken met de Natuur. In de workshop vertellen we over NatuurWijs en laten je proeven van activiteiten die je kunt doen buiten met de kinderen.

7. Regenerative Leadership – Walking to heal ourselves, each other and the world. In this walkshop, we will explore the regenerative lens and bring it into the three paths of living systems: the inner, the communal and systemic. Through dialogue and silent reflection, we will untangle our own patterns and explore new practices that may allow us to be a force for hospicing and enlivening. This session will be outside and take 90 minutes, we have space for 30 participants.

8. Whole School Approach – Van opplakken naar inbouwen: de hele school door een groene bril. Meer aandacht voor natuur in het curriculum, een projectweek biodiversiteit in de achtertuin, een middag met de boswachter op excursie; het draagt allemaal bij aan begrip en betrokkenheid bij de natuur. En toch, om te komen tot verbinding en positieve verandering, is meer nodig. In deze workshop gaan we kijken hoe het perspectief van de Whole School Approach niet alleen jonge mensen kan inleiden in een natuurbetrokken bestaan maar ook bijdraagt aan verbetering van hun gezondheid en leervermogen. 9. Mainstreamen van natuurinclusief onderwijs: hoe kan het groeien buiten de ‘bubbel’? Natuurinclusief onderwijs begint vaak met losse buitenschoolse activiteiten, afhankelijk van de interesse van een docent. Om natuurinclusief onderwijs meer structureel ingebed te krijgen in het curriculum, is een heel andere uitdaging. Vaak stuiten we op terughoudendheid of weerstand van collega’s en/of studenten. In deze sessie wisselen we ervaringen uit en verkennen we verhalen en vooroordelen die bestaan rondom natuurinclusief onderwijs. Waar gaat het echt om en zou het begrijpen van de weerstand de sleutel kunnen zijn tot het vinden van een gemeenschappelijke basis? Met Louise v.d. Stok (WUR eNaBlS en NatuurCollege) en Mieke de Wit (WUR eNaBlS en ReGeNL).

10. Highschool/Middelbare School – Ontdek je relatie met de natuur door de verbinding tussen kunst en wetenschap – Een workshop over natuur-inclusief onderwijs bij middelbare scholen. Ontdek real-life voorbeelden in verschillende vakken. Ervaar hoe het is om en opdracht te voltooien, en wordt geinspireerd. Ella Vingerling, pianiste, muziek-pedagoog en biologie lerares aam het Rembrandt College in Veenendaal deelt haar ervaring met buitenonderwijs en laat het je ervaren door middel van het maken van een ‘Soundscape’. Reina Kuiper, teamleader bij Wageningen Pre-University deelt achtergrond informatie over natuurinclusief onderwijs voor middelbare scholen.

11. Foodforest – Food Forests (Voedselbossen) in education – Food Forestry has become a very popular practice in the Netherlands, not only to grow food and restore biodiversity, but also to create educational spaces for all ages. During this excursion we will visit and explore how the Droevendaal Food Forest is integrated in WUR education and helps students to learn about themselves, nature, growing food, human-nature relationships or teaching to young children in an ecoliteracy program. Why not start a food forest at your own school or campus? Kees van Veluw, Educator Permacultuur, Agroforestry en Bio-Landbouw, will tell you about the possibilities of a food forest.

12. Free / Network Moment – This wildcard ticket will allow you to take a breather and stroll around the tables at the lounge area and connect with the other people there. It takes a whole school
We proudly announce the third edition of the More Nature Deeper Education Conference on Tuesday April 8th at Wageningen University Campus. With new partners and an extended program with lots of opportunity to experience nature inclusive education, both inside and outdoors – and meet the growing network of educators and the like.
This year, the theme is ‘it takes a whole school!’. Nature inclusive education is not an add-on or extra time investment for educators and curriculum developers. It takes a village to raise a child and a whole school to educate teenagers and young adults. So, bring in your colleague deans, remedial teachers, janitors, schedule writers, mentors, architects and gardenistas and network of active parents. We need a whole community to include a whole school!
Programme
The symposium will start with the creation of a storm. Be ready to invite natural forces inside a classroom! Arita Baaijens will fill the silence with a few words on the theme of the day. In order to reach a whole school, we need a whole ecosystem to inspire a nature-inclusive way of thinking and teaching. Several short and appetitive stories will follow of recent experiences applying nature inclusive teaching in diverse classroom settings, making it relevant in subject matters ranging from language or math classes for children, to academic study programs in the social science or even biotechnology. There will be a moment to digest all this over some snacks and drinks. Fuel to give us energy for the rest of the morning, when we will hear about new developments in the Nature inclusive science field and share our own experiences with Nature inclusive Education. Then, lunch!
Lunch is a great time to go outside. You will receive a train ticket for an immersive journey through time, and will be able to sign up for a diverse carousel of active sessions with a mixed target group, to explore and work towards a whole school with nature inclusive education. At the end of the afternoon, when we arrive at our final destination, we will share the lessons, experiences and inspiration we have gained during the day, and look forwards to another year of bringing More Nature, Deeper Education.
Our goal is to offer everyone new insights, experiences, inspiration and connections to implement Nature inclusive Education through the whole school, throughout the whole country!
